This week’s article over at SavvyMom is about a sweet little boutique here in Westboro called Green Tree Eco Fashion.
I know I mentioned this in the article but I have to say it again, I was really impressed by Sarah Barr, the owner of Green Tree and the fashion know-how behind the whole enterprise.
She knew I was looking for a dress. And like some kind of fashion magician she just kept pulling dress after dress out of the racks. (I couldn’t figure out where they were all coming from, but they were there – somewhere! I should have looked for the tell-tale black hat. )
If you go, I really suggest you make a point of checking out their stock of mittens. THEY ARE ADORABLE. They’re made by Preloved. Every single pair is different, made from reclaimed sweaters. The good news: at only $19.99 they’d make an excellent little stocking stuffer. The bad news: you will spend 20 minutes agonizing over which pair you want and then you’ll have no choice but to buy a pair for yourself too.
I bought the tunic pictured in the SavvyMom article – but in black. It’s made out of organic cotton and is fair trade as well; made by artisan co-ops in some of the poorest regions of South America. (I feel warm and fuzzy knowing that the person who made my dress earned a fair wage!)
Do you want to know something funny? I bought it for Mark’s company Christmas party and then got home only to be reminded that the Christmas party was cancelled this year. Mark told me months ago but I guess I just blocked it out. The brain works in mysterious ways, doesn’t it? ;)
