News from the shower

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Oh! Things!|Publishing/writing/career stuff

I was having a little chuckle over the story of Forever 21’s new USPS fashion collection just now and I remembered that my post about my One Dress, Thirty Days challenge is still sitting in my drafts folder.

I am still gathering my thoughts, but to be honest, I’m not sure if it’s coming out the way I want it to. I worry about sounding preachy when I’m writing these things. Honestly, my intent is not to wag my finger at people, just to share what I’ve learned along the way. What you take away from it, if anything, is up to you! More on that later.

I have a couple of things on the go today so for now I just want to tell you about a new shower scrub by Purple Urchin I’ve been using that is making me happy.

Purple Urchin scrub

I wrote about it for the terra20 blog (along with a really nice face mask I tried out for the first time), so if you want to read the full review first, you can do that right here. I’ve been using it in the shower regularly since that was first posted and I have a couple of points to add.

I said this before but I really like the smell. I shared the following exchange on the Fishbowl Facebook page and it made me laugh so I wanted to share it here too.

Mark and I were in the car and he sniffs the air. “What’s that smell,” he asks.
“What smell?” I say.
“There’s a smell.”
“That smells like what?”
“I’m not sure…”
“Does it smell like coffee and cinnamon, because I used a new scrub in the shower,” I say, finally understanding that I was the source of the smell.
“Yes! I knew it smelled like Christmas!”

It does, it a way, have a holiday scent to it. So funny.

This scrub is dry and crumbly, which may alarm you, but it’s ok. It’s a scrub! You have to really scoop it and cup your hand to avoid excess spillage.

I have tried using this all over my body, even my face (I don’t recommend doing this) but I really like using it on my legs and feet. In fact, I might move this product out of the shower stall and to the bath, where I can soak my feet and apply the scrub at the end of the day without worrying about shower slippage. My skin feels great afterward. It surely must be all that scrubbing away of dead skin paired with the moisturizing powers cocoa butter! I haven’t had to use any additional lotion on my legs, which are usually very dry in the winter. Maybe my legs and feet will be ready for sandals by the time we’re finally ready to wear them!
