So far, so good. The only bump in the road was my mother-in-law’s baking. Let the record show that I did not sample any of this freshly-baked temptation: Going into this I thought one of the hardest things about doing a Whole 30 would be giving up my breakfast routine. I love my breakfast routine […]

To review: every other Tuesday is my day off and I’m trying to use this time to recharge my batteries. No work, no meetings, minimal errands. Last time, I visited the Arctic via the Canadian Museum of Nature. It’s been awhile since I posted a report of a Tuesday adventure, but since my last missive it’s […]

When leftovers come together LIKE MAGIC

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Recipes and Food

Don’t you love it when you clean out the fridge and the resulting food comes together in one dish so beautifully you can’t help but think you ARE WINNING THE KITCHEN WARS? Well, this happened the other day, and I can’t stop thinking about it and high-fiving myself: Here’s what happened. I bought a couple […]

I posted about a lovely soup we had last week and promised a full review of Zestible, a new service which provides ready-to-cook meals for Ottawa folks. The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
