Happy Monday Fishies! I am very happy to be sharing this fantastic giveaway from my friends at Mrs. Tiggy Winkle’s. As many of you know, Tiggy’s has been a Fishbowl patron for many moons. I’m VERY excited to let you know that THIS YEAR marks their 40th (!) as an independent toy store in Ottawa. […]

We have a winner! Thank you everyone for your entries, and thanks as well to Mrs. Tiggy Winkle’s for hosting this sweet spring giveaway! Surely I’m not the only person in Ottawa who can’t wait for spring to finally get here. I want sun! And green grass! And warm breezes! I do sense some impatience […]

Are you a puzzle person?

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Oh! Things!|Ottawa

We did a LOT of puzzles with the girls when they were small. They’re good for a whole bunch of reasons: developing hand/eye coordination, fine motor development, problem solving. We had some fun ones too; puzzles that glowed in the dark and had “heat spots” that revealed hidden pictures underneath if you pressed your hand […]

(In fact it quickly escalated to THIS.) Anyway, that is neither here nor there. This […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
