Ottawa Giveaway alert: summertime picnic fun from Red Chair Kids

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Fishbowl patrons|Giveaways and product reviews

Happy Friday! This giveaway is brought to you by my newest blog patron, Red Chair Kids, a lovely children’s boutique in West Wellington village right here in Ottawa.

If you know me at all you will know that I live and breathe that famous quote from William Morris:

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”

It’s had an impact on a lot of our home-related purchases, and it is always in the back of my mind when I think about our reno. It makes me happy to have beautiful things! But that is neither here nor there. I only wanted to mention it because I am pretty certain that Monica and Sarah, the owners of Red Chair Kids, think about that William Morris quote a lot too, because so much of their store is overwhelmingly beautiful AND useful.

This giveaway consists of three items to go to one family…  all useful and beautiful things for a summertime picnic. Picnics are a summertime MUST DO in my opinion. Not only does food taste better when you’re eating outdoors, but the kids absolutely love picnics. (Sidebar: here are some good Ottawa-area picnic places from SavvyMom!)

Anyway, ON WITH THE GIVEAWAY.

Here’s the what’s what!

Central Park Outdoor Blanket + Cooler Bag ($55.00)
Wherever you roam, the Central Park Outdoor Blanket is ready for the beach, park or playtime at home. Once you reach your destination, it unfolds into a spacious 5′ x 5′ water-resistant blanket, keeping everyone’s picnic clean and dry. (YES!) This versatile blanket features an insulated cooler bag to chill snacks and drinks; there’s even room for mom and dad’s essentials. Detach the cooler bag and it’s a compact messenger for quick trips to the ice cream stand!

Janod Butterfly Net ($19.99)
Every picnic needs one of these.

Plan Toys Caterpillar Telescope
Darn tootin’ cute for grassy adventures and exploration.

The total retail value of this giveaway is $92.00.

Interested?

Behold the fine print.

  • This giveaway is open to anyone residing in the Ottawa area, but it is void where prohibited in Quebec. (Sorry mes amis, here’s why.)

  • In order for your entry to qualify you must leave your name in the comments below and tell us, what beautiful thing caught your eye in the Red Chair kids store? Have you been there before? I would love to hear about it if you have.
  • One entry per person please. We want lots of people to have the opportunity to win.
  • If you can’t post your comment here because you’re behind a firewall at work or whatever, you can email it to me for posting: andrea at quietfish dot com (however I cannot be responsible if your entry is misdirected or gets stuck in my Spam folder!!)

  • I will do a random draw of all qualifying entries using Random.org at noon EST on July 2, 2011.

This is not a requirement of this giveaway, but did you know that Red Chair is on Facebook? And if you like their store, you should like their page, because that’s where you get all the best insider scoop… which is important if you like beautiful things like me and like to get advance notice. :)

That’s it! Over to you. Thank you Red Chair, for hosting this generous (and beautiful!) giveaway!

I wandered into Red Chair Kids on a whim not too long ago…I liked most things in the shop but the absolute best items that caught my eye were the mobiles! They are all fantastic and hands down my favourite.

They have a lovely display right now of colourful tutus. We’ve been regulars at Red Chair for a while – our favourite purchase has been the Plan Toys kitchen.

I love Red Chair Kids! Honestly, the first thing that caught my eye about their store is the sign. I love the red chair silhouette :) Once inside, it was the Automoblox that caught my eye for my son.

I have been to Red Chair only once, but think it is fabulous. I decided to head down to wellington one day when i had just had my first babe, and since we live south of the city, it is a trip :) Anyways I love the butterfly mobile! I may have to head there once again!

While pregnant for my first son Luka 4 years ago, I heard about this beautiful store that carried an amazing array of specialty baby/children’s items. I decided to take a trek to the store to hear what all the fuss was about.

The store is absolutely beautiful. Its a high-end nursery with all the “fixing’s”. From the beautiful Rocking Chairs, gorgeous Oeuf infant furniture with elegant bedding or just let your eyes wander and you will be taken away by the incredible pieces of artwork on the walls.

I now have a 23 month old son Maxime as well and love visiting the store. Always something unique and beautiful to find for ourselves or as a gift for a new special bundle of joy.

Looking forward to many more visits ;)

This is such a great little shop….where to start with all the lovely items they have. I have to agree that all the baby furnishings are gorgeous. I haven’t been in a while but must head up to grab a butterfly net even if I don’t win….have been looking for one for my son he loves to catch butterflies and other insects!

I love Red Chair Kids! It is the best spot to pick up a “special” gift for mom to be or little one! My favorite purchase for myself/children from there was this diaper purse that was so luxurious and help enough wipes and diapers to keep us stocked for short outings! i still have it and now it contains wipes and tissues and other child friendly necessities for a day out of the house and keeps it all together!

Lovely give away!
My daughter and I did a special trip to Red Chair Kids last fall when she started at her new daycare to pick up a backpack – she picked the penguin skip hop – and it has been great, well loved and oft used!
I love the quality of the dress-up clothes they have, actually I love the quality of the things they offer in the store overall.

I’ve frequented the website a few times, but haven’t yet ventured into the store…this may have to change as my son would love the Djeco Traffic Mobile. As well I really like the recycled tea set, it is pinks, blues and greens without being overly girly. Thanks for the opportunity and a reminder to check out this store!

Here’s a secret of mine: even though we have so many stuffed animals that my husband has issued a house-wide ban, I love them and wish we had more. So my favourite thing is this stuffed kitty:

I really like Red Chair … it is such a lovely boutique experience in there. I bought my DS’s lunch bag and a book the last time I was in. But I admired so much more! Most recently, I was checking their website because they carry some interesting mobiles and I am looking to re-do both of the kids’ bedrooms after the move.

I love Red Chair Kids! I’ve been there many times to buy things for my children, and gifts for my friends. Red Chair is filled with beautiful things, but one of the most beautiful things about this store and its owners is the significant contribution they have made to our community, particularly in support of children’s activities. My daughter proudly wears her Fisher Park Soccer Shirt with Red Chair Kids on the back every week. Bravo Red Chair and thank you! :)

And wonderful window displays

Red Chair is SUCH a beautiful store! Their staff are so knowledgeable too – I always get great assistance with picking out gifts even though I’m often on a tight budget. I covet the amazing dress-up clothes for our tickle trunk and the Stokke high chairs/seats are amazing. We used them for a few weeks at a friend’s place in Vancouver and I really, really, really want one. The oeuf furniture is so beautiful too.

The most beautiful thing at Red Chair Kids at this moment is their wonderful window display of gorgeous “makes you want to have girls” petticoats in many lovely girlie colours. I love their bedding, their Jellycats, the art work, the Little Twig bath line (esp the bubble bath), their small but cool collection of books and games for toddlers & preschoolers. There is always something great to buy at any price range! Monica and Sarah put a lot of thought into everything they carry in the store and it shows. They are also so welcoming and helpful if advice or suggestions are needed. I’m a really big fan of them and their store!

Hiya!
We are hUGE fans of Red Chair Kids & are regular shoppers there! We had the chance to furnish our baby’s nursery with beautiful pieces from RCK this past January and are so thrilled with everything that we chose!
If I had to do the impossible and chose only one beautiful thing I would have to say that it’s the gorgeous Bloom Fresco Highchair that they sell.
By the same token, if I could chose anything beautiful at RCK then I would definitely say that what’s most beautiful is the customer service & amazing personalities of both Sarah & Monica as well as their entire team of incredible associates!
Thank you for recognizing RCK – they make navigating the world of baby that much less scary :)
