A peek inside the new Rideau Centre location of terra20 (plus a giveaway!)

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Fishbowl patrons|Giveaways and product reviews

terra20 is a Fishbowl patron but my opinions and love of sustainably-made and planet-friendly products are my own!

I have some good news for fans of terra20 AND for the folks who may not have had the time to discover them yet. They just opened a brand new location at the Rideau Centre, right across from the Apple store. I was at the official grand opening on Saturday. (In fact, I wasn’t the only one who was excited about terra20’s arrival, there was a line up to get in before the store even opened.)

Here’s terra20 co-founder, Bill Stewart, who was there to unlock the store and meet customers on the big day:

We got to chatting, as we always do, and talked about how shoppers are becoming more aware of harmful ingredients that are hiding in personal care, beauty and cleaning products. Since terra20 opened their Pinecrest location (and Wellington West) they’ve been working hard to become a trusted source of healthy and sustainable products. At terra20, every product is chosen with care to make sure it lives up to their standards. For example, check out their ‘Baseline Banned’ list: 15 harmful ingredients that you’ll never see on the shelves at terra20.

As for the Rideau store, it’s a tidy collection of the products we trust and love, as well as a few surprises:

terra20, Rideau Centre

Pretty candles!

Love sunscreen sticks for kids. Stick 'em in your purse for touch ups!

Zoku! Perfect for summer. We have the slush maker. Just add juice and it turns into slush!

S'well beverage bottles. Review to come!

Eco-bar favourites!

One of my favourite things about terra20 is that it’s ALSO a great place to pick up products that are made right here in Ottawa. Purple Urchin is just one Ottawa company that has products on the shelves at terra20 (well, in-store and online)!

TODAY we’re giving away this Purple Urchin Grapefruit hand, bar soap and lip balm along with a $50 gift card. (Which you can spend on anything, including more great stuff from Purple Urchin.)

I do enjoy your blog, especially since I, too, live in Ottawa. I just took a look at the terra20 website. Look at all the Purple Urchin products they carry! if I were to win the draw, I would likely purchase some additional Purple Urchin products … in an effort to support local businesses.

It is super that Terra20 continues to expand. Love it! My absolute favourite thing I have bought there in the last while is lunch containers from Sistema. Packing kids lunches has been made so much easier!

I am also a big fan of Purple Urchin. Their bug spray is our go to!

I have been coveting one of the S’well bottles! A non-toxic bottle that will keep my water icy for ages this summer would be way cool (ha ha, see what I did there?).

We go to Terra20 for our baby supplies – especially all natural bum balm, sunscreen and flushable diaper liners. But I’ve been eyeing a diffuser for essential oils…

I would get another bento style lunch box for the toddler to start school soon. We have gotten a number of bento boxes from them over the years and love taking the kids in to choose their own.

I would get the zoku ice coffee maker, but the stainless lunch containers and food containers are great as are some of the travel mugs. It would be a hard decision if I won. http://www.terra20.com/zoku-iced-coffee-maker-purple

I would try some fun bath products for when my grandson comes for sleepovers. He has very sensitive skin and I feel he misses out at grandma’s house as he doesn’t get fun bath bubbles in the tub…

Lovely! I would buy some massage oil for mom and baby, to put in my bag to use on postpartum moms and their babies. Just beginning to get my feet wet and start up my doula work, and this would be a lovely addition to what I can bring to support postpartum moms :)
Would maybe also look at sunscreen for myself or kids!

Terra20 is one of my favourite stores to browse through and I often use their “refill” bar for household cleaners. However, my teens have been angling for a Zoku and a soda machine, so we would likely use the gift card to finally indulge them so they can make their own summer treats. (Love Purple Urchin! When traveling, I often bring made-in-Ottawa items for my hosts and that often includes a Purple Urchin product or two.)

38 | Elizabeth

I would buy the Konjac Sponge: Charcoal if I won. I have heard so many good things about this gentle exfoliate.

39 | Valerie

June 22nd, 2016 at 10:15 am

I love that you often have Terra 20 giveaways! Now that they’re in Rideau Centre, I can walk over at lunch. I think I’d like one of those Swell bottles, or maybe some of those cleaning products you were talking about in March. They have many new things so it would be a tough choice!

40 | Katie Balmer

June 22nd, 2016 at 10:22 am

As much as I’d love to say that I’d treat myself to a fancy new S’well bottle, I’d realistically use it for more Ecobar products and some body products!

42 | Alessandra

43 | Meagan

So much to choose from! We love their organic clothing for kids, the Badger sunscreen is fantastic (and a top choice of the EWG), their environment friendly cleaning products, and I love to indulge in some of the bath products from Purple Urchin, like the soaps and bath soaks.

44 | Elizabeth

June 22nd, 2016 at 12:01 pm

I’m always looking for safe, effective sunscreens for my sensitive-skinned children, so I would get the unscented Badger sunscreen cream.

45 | Claudette

June 22nd, 2016 at 12:12 pm

I would love the lunch containers for school, and particularly the thermal container, or the stainless steel containers. They come in different sizes which would be perfect for lunches and portable food on the way to the rink. :)

I’d fill up on products from their Eco Bar – I love their lavender hand soap!

47 | Carolyn

June 22nd, 2016 at 2:44 pm

I have been a loyal shopper ever since they opened their first store in Ottawa – all my cleaning products come from the Ecobar. I also purchase my Daniel Thompson cosmetics from there and since they’re on the pricy side, I would put any “won” money towards my next cosmetics purchase.

48 | Laura

June 22nd, 2016 at 2:46 pm

Reading your last post – I want a S’well water bottle! One for everyone in our family :)

49 | Rebecca

June 23rd, 2016 at 12:29 pm

If I was lucky enough to win, I would definitely check out the children’s lunch containers and lunch bags – with my oldest heading to junior kindergarten in the fall, I am busy trying to get reusable and good quality lunch gear in hand (I especially love the metal lunch containers they carry)! And, I’d probably also treat myself to one of those awesome Swell bottles!

50 | Jenn

I would totally go for a S’well bottle. I’ve had my eye on one for awhile now but after reading your post, I’m even more interested. Thanks!
