A “no trespassing” message from Piper

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Home/reno|Misc. life

Now that the snow is finally receding our gardens are once again revealing themselves. Mind you, everything is still frozen, but you can spot some green here and there amid all the brown. A couple of summers ago I buried a few locally grown strawberries in a small patch of garden that gets some afternoon […]

I have a quickie giveaway for Toronto area folks! My friends at Rethink Tires have given me a pair of tickets to Canada Blooms to give away to one Fishbowl reader. Did you know Canada Blooms is the largest flower and garden show in Canada? I’ve always wanted to go but have never had the opportunity. […]

The mystery of the lost marbles

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Home/reno|Misc. life

If you live in Ottawa you know it’s been a pretty long and hot summer. To that effect, I’ve been dutifully filling up our two bird baths with fresh water. I also added something new to the mix. Well, new-ish. I had this on the go last summer and thought I’d revisit the idea for […]

A walk around the garden

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Home/reno

Suffice it to say, I am overwhelmed by the state of our back yard at the moment. It’s a beautiful mess back there. The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
