On April 2 I posted an update with the gleeful news that we’d finished the Whole 30 dietary reset and that I was feeling pretty good AND hit my goal weight. Well, I couldn’t let that be the last thing you heard about our Whole 30 because what happened afterwards deserves a mention. It was […]

Annnnnnd we’re done. (Whole 30 wrap up!)

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Recipes and Food

The last days of Whole 30 were probably the hardest, not because I was ready to throw in the towel, but because there were more obstacles than usual. Good Friday was officially our Day 30. We had Easter dinner at my inlaws and I ate as per the plan although I was sorely tempted to slather […]

Whole 30: day 29 update and a lazy gal’s guide to fitness

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Misc. life

Day 29! Day 29! You’ll have to imagine me jumping up and down SHOUTING THIS FROM THE ROOFTOPS. I am feeling pretty good. If you look at what I’ve eaten this month I think you’ll see that I’ve been doing ok from a dietary perspective (aside from all of that bacon, of course. Sigh.) As […]

Whole 30: Day 23 update

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Recipes and Food

Last night I attended a special event at the Ottawa-Gatineau Auto Show that was hosted by Ford Canada. It was an opportunity to mix and mingle, learn a little bit about new additions to their fleet, and of course, check out the hundreds of vehicles on display at the Shaw Centre. (Which, by the way, I […]

Whole 30: Day 21 update

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Recipes and Food

I am weary today, but I blame the pre-dawn wakeups I’ve had these last two days. First, I was up early yesterday to bring the youngest to take her G1. (Yes, really!) Surprisingly, there aren’t that many places in Ottawa to do a driver’s test. I wanted to beat the crowd so we motored out […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
