Young poser

Posted by andrea in: Misc. life

Sometimes the girls like to put on a show for us. They sing or dance or do small living-room-size acrobatics. They were doing this for me yesterday when Emma suddenly started posturing in a really odd way. She was sticking her hip way out and looking out from under her eyebrows.

“Why are you standing like that?” I asked.
“I dunno,” she mumbled something about it looking cool. Pretty girls. Rock stars.
“Where did you learn that?”
“Oh,” she waved her hand at me in that casual YOU KNOW kind of way. “Newspapers and magazines.”

After a few more questions I finally got to the bottom of it. So here it is. This is a six year old’s interpretation of a fashion model. May I remind you that we don’t read Vogue at bedtime.

My prediction is that I’ll develop a serious heart condition during her teenage years.

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human daughters: Emma (20) and Sarah (18). During the day I work as a writer at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
