one less

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

This is where this site becomes a journal for my family. Out of concern for my family’s privacy I’m not entirely sure if I should be using this space in this way, but our Uncle Sam has passed away last night and I wanted to record it here.

Sam was my husband’s uncle…  his father’s sister’s husband. Sam was a dear, dear man. Oh how he made us laugh. He had a great sense of humour. He was kind, and generous with his time.

I loved his stories about helping the seniors in the community. I loved the irony given that Sam was into his 80s.

He was loved by many.

Sam and his wife Joan are examples of What it Means to be Good People. They are role models.

The photo below was taken at Mark’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary in 2007. Sam is wearing an orange striped shirt. Joan is in the front row wearing a white shirt.

The Tomkins family

I have a giant lump in my throat. And the keyboard is blurry so I will end it here. We’ll miss you very much Sam. Very very much.

So sorry for your loss. Thoughts and prayers to your family. Sometimes sharing helps, but at the very least it helps you to celebrate the good person that he was.
