THIS lucky girl has been invited on a wee getaway to Mt. Tremblant this weekend courtesy of Ford Canada. A few local bloggy peeps will be meeting at Campbell Ford and driving to Hôtel Quintessence on Lake Tremblant for a bit of an adventure. (Translation: driving skills and delicious meals in a gorgeous setting.) I will be tweeting […]

We decided to check out a new trail this weekend, another one in the Stony Swamp network of trails near Bell’s Corners. I’m glad we went, because this trail is another keeper. See how happy it made us? It’s a short trail. If I had to guess I’d say it clocks in at around 2.5 […]

A bowl of comfort and love

I’ve been feeling a bit like a crazy mama this week, working/writing/planning to the point of Total Brain Explosion. And then there’s the weather! Holy crap. I’ve had it up to *here* with the deep freeze. CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY. The cold has been downright paralyzing. And this kind of paralysis demands easier meals and […]

Family Day 2014

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Easy ways to make kids happy|Ottawa

Our day included an outing into the Gatineau Hills. It was pure gorgeousness; warm sun, white snow, blue skies. Heavenly serenity. This was my view on the way back to the car, along the Parkway: We followed an easy trail, marked no.5. It was good, although I was mildly annoyed at the overall lack of […]

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Misc. life

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (23) and Sarah (21). During the day I work as a writer at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
