Once again I am going to be another year older. August 19th. A great way to offset the thoughts of old age and eventual death is to make sure you receive lots of good presents.
First rule is to ensure that everyone around you knows what you like. If you have a blog you can post a wishlist. If you don’t, you have no choice but to go around and say things like: “I saw the COOLEST umbrella, it was black on the outside and had a print of blue sky on the inside. In fact, here is the URL!” And then write it on a scrap of paper, press it into their hands as nicely as you can and hope they don’t lose it.
BTW, I do like nice umbrellas. :)
Here’s my list. You know, in case you didn’t know what to buy.
* Japanese chiyogami paper. Like this stuff from the Japanese Paper Place in T.O.
* Subscription to Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine
* chocolate
* postage stamp album … a style which I just discovered is actually called a stockbook.
* letter-size envelopes – plain made of nice quality paper
* gift certificate from Michael’s of from a local craft/rubber stamping store
* a soft covered three ring binder for my ever-growing collection of art cards
* books
And I know this is pushing it but *if* there happened to be a wealthy gift fairy who wanted to bestow presents on worthy individuals I would request:
* a basic sewing machine…. even an older model will do! (And mom, in case you’re reading this and wondering why I’m not using your sewing machine from the 1870s… it’s because I would like something that doesn’t smoke when I use it)
* a zoon lens for my Nikon D70
* a lighting kit w/umbrella and flash
* a hammock for the backyard, so I can get even LESS yard work done than ever before
Speaking of which… I must get back to it. :)
