Warning: heavy duty braggery ahead

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

It’s a PD day today. This morning we had a parent-teacher conference with Emma’s teacher. Funny, it’s not a conference per se. Emma gave us a tour of the classrom and showed us her Marcy Cook Math Tiles, her composition book and art portfolio among other things. While we were doing this Sarah decided to make a clock. I have no idea where she got the idea, but here it is:

Sarah's clock

And then we had a short chat with the teacher.

But there was really nothing to talk about because Emma came home with this on her report card (click to enlarge):

Wow wow wow! Her grades are very good, and range from B to A. But what lovely comments!

We’re going out to dinner to celebrate.

I’m thrilled. Thrilled! Not just because her grades are great, but she is truly a good person and it looks like we’ve been doing an okay job raising her. It’s the best thing I could have hoped for.

You know, I’m feeling a little teary at the thought…

Fantastic! Gave me warm fuzzies. :)

I always go to the comments first. Grades are fine and good, but reading how enjoyable my kids are and how well adjusted they are means more to me than a letter or number.

Yay for a great report card!

Hey, I send my reports home with my kidlets (students) today, too!

I have to chuckle reading those, cause I just wrote 27 of those comments (though not all as glowing as that one!) and yep, teachers use the same words all over the place! :) As these were my first batch of reports ever, I’m glad to see I’m not too far off!

Apples don’t fall far from the tree, so you’re obviously doing something right with her! Kudos to both her AND you!
