late nights with kids

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy|Photography

full moon and a sleeping field of corn

Did you see the lunar eclipse last night? Did you let your kids stay up to see it, or did you wake them up to see it?

It can make for grousy kids the next morning, but we like to wake them up for these kinds of things. This time we asked them if they wanted to be woken up for the full eclipse. They said yes, and I agreed, on the condition they wouldn’t grumble the next morning. (Which sort of worked…)

Kids are naturally curious, and I think things like the lunar eclipse helps foster an interest in their environment. People who are closer to their natural enviroment will work harder to preserve it. Don’t you think?

Let me just say here that I had to wake up Andrea as well. When I woke Sarah she literally sleepwalked to the window and has no recollection of seeing the eclipse in totality and grumbled in the morning about not seeing it.

Funny!!!

I saw the partial here in Toronto from our back window. I was too tired to stay up to see the full one, and regret it somewhat. But given the miserably night I had with the baby, I guess those extra couple of hours of sleep prior to the total eclipse was probably a good thing…

Due to the weather conditions, we were not able to see anything! I was hoping that we would have clear skies but instead got clouds and a snow storm this morning.

I would have woken my children up to see something like that. Hopefully next time, the weather will be better for us.

Mouse and my husband watched it. My husband loves all things astronomy and has a telescope, so last night was a fun night for him. I am just about to post about it.
