Not intended for the easily offended

Posted by andrea in: Misc. life

I was reading this when I was reminded of something that happened last week.

I believe we were at the park when it happened. My back was turned when I heard Sarah ask the question.

“Mummy…what’s this, a drinking straw or something?”

Sarah, 4, had pulled a wrapped tampon out of my purse and was inspecting it carefully.

Long ago, I promised myself that I would always give my children a straight answer whenever they asked anything of me. I would never be the kind of parent who gave the old I’ll-tell-you-when-you’re-older line. Yet there I was. Saying what I said I would never say.

“No, it isn’t,” I said. “I’ll tell you later. Much later.”

sigh…

Have a great weekend everyone! On the agenda: back-to-school shopping, carrot cake, and perhaps a dip in a pool.
