Which is better for the environment? A live tree or an artificial one? According to this article, it’s better to get a live one. I remember my parents (for a couple years anyway) buying a tree in a pot and planting it in the Spring. I always liked that idea.

Last Christmas and this one we decided to get a live tree. We make sure that it gets recycled into compost and mulch afterwards.

We bought a fake tree when Jake was born, and are still using it 13 years later. I like how I don’t have to worry about watering it, and putting it away means dismantling it and putting it in a box. Plus we can leave it up for a really long time, so I feel that we get a lot of use out of it.
The only problem is that it is losing needles and so that could be interesting in a few years, you know?
