Today we celebrated the anniversary of a birth, and this is how we did it

?? a.m. – Wake. Uh, is that snow?
?? a.m. – Make Sarah her breakfast in bed. Mark helps.
8:30 – Long.hot.shower. Put clothes out for Emma and Sarah.
9:00-11:00 – House cleaning, furniture moving, veggie chopping party prep etc.
11:00-11:10 Sneak a bagel with hot pepper cream cheese. I pledge this year to keep myself fueled properly before/during party. A steady stream of ketchup-flavoured chips just make me crabby.
11:10-11:13 Crank kitchen stereo to 15 and dance wildly to the Ramones singing “I wanna be sedated.”
11:27 Take one extra-strength Tylenol. I think I hurt my neck.
11:38 Observe how daughters pass the time before guests arrive.
11:50 – First child arrives.
12:00 – 12:05 The rest of the children arrive.
12:30 We’ve played ALL of the games I had planned. Where the hell is Mark with that pizza?
12:35 Pizza is here. Finally. We can eat.
12:55 Balloon guy arrives. All previous party games pale in comparison.
2:00 – Balloon guy leaves. Time for presents.
2:15 – Time for cake.
3:15 Last children leave.
3:21 Mum collapses on couch, wishes someone would serve her a stiff drink.
7:25 Almost forgot. There are eggs that need dying!
7:55 – Since the Easter bunny is coming I try to get the girls to bed early. I thought they were so tired they’d be ready to drop into their beds. I think I was wrong.
