I’m doing this because our “extra day” only comes around only once every four years and we know a lot of people who would have liked to have One Extra Day. So… today of all days it’s important to be mindful and enjoy the things that we have. Photos will be posted every once in […]

We were invited to check out Ottawa’s Funatorium Explorium, and this is what we found there.

Piper and her roadkill toy

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: dog stuff|Multimedia experiments

We call it the roadkill toy because it’s utterly flat and lifeless (although it has a squeaker in the butt as well as the head, which makes it “sound” like it’s begging for mercy). Piper likes killing it… over and over and over again. What can I say? She’s bred to be a ratter. (this […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human daughters: Emma (20) and Sarah (18). During the day I work as a writer at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
