I posted about a lovely soup we had last week and promised a full review of Zestible, a new service which provides ready-to-cook meals for Ottawa folks. First, I have to confess that I would enjoy dinner time a little more if (a) there were fewer steps involved (read: no shopping or pouring over recipes from […]

My best lunch this week

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Ottawa|Recipes and Food

I have had a LOT of great lunches the past couple of weeks but today’s takes the cake and I had to share it here: This Thai Coconut Soup came to me via Zestible. Or should I say, the ingredients and the recipe did. Zestible is an Ottawa grocery and meal planning service (although as […]

I haven’t written up a “will they eat it” post for awhile now. I was poking around my recipe archive and remembered how fun it was so I thought I’d revisit when I could. I found a new recipe to add to my repertoire. It’s fast and flavourful and made a pretty good lunch the next […]

The other night I tweeted a plea for a new macaroni and cheese recipe. Our usual from Joy of Cooking is a household staple around here but I was in the mood for something a little different. The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (23) and Sarah (21). During the day I work as a writer at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
