So this is what we did yesterday afternoon: The girls each have one of these Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Cameras. A couple of weeks ago I bought a bunch of film on a whim at Black’s (the store is going under and I nabbed it at a discounted price). A few of the packages […]

I’ve written a lot about screen time, here on the Fishbowl and over on the MediaSmarts blog. I think I can summarize my feelings thusly: I’m not against TV, video games, iDevices etc. I do however, worry about the effect these things are having on our brains and attention spans and I believe there should be […]

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your entries! Into the Woods will be released in theatres Dec. 25, 2014 but I’m giving away tickets to a special advance screening: four admissions to two families! The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human daughters: Emma (20) and Sarah (18). During the day I work as a writer at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
