I know, I know, I am diverging from what is typically expected from a bucket list* but if you don’t pick up lunch from Bite This in Westboro Village at some point this summer you will regret it: It’s delicious. It’s reasonably priced. The serving size makes it an extra good value. You sit outside in a […]

Another “must do” activity in the age of Coronavirus?

I got a journal for Christmas and it’s been sitting on my bureau in our bedroom, unused. I saw it this morning and I realized that I do actually need a journal for something right now … tracking our family’s life and movement during this pandemic. When someone gets sick with a communicable illness like […]

Community.

Shop the Neighbourhood went down on Saturday. (I wrote about it right here if you need the backstory.) It was a WHIRLWIND. Although I was the Ottawa representative of the campaign I was assigned to cover Westboro. And so, on Saturday morning, I laced up my sneakers and walked down to the village. I saw, I […]

Last year I was part of a really cool initiative called Shop the Neighbourhood. The idea behind it is to encourage people to shop locally, which I love, because I truly believe that independent stores are the backbone of our community and help make it a great place to live. I’m very happy to announce that […]

Movies on the Beach is one of the most fun things to do during the summer in Ottawa. It’s hosted by Majic 100 (who have renamed it Friday Night Flicks by the way) and it’s free! We’ve been to the one at Westboro Beach a few times, so if you’re planning on going, here’s what […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (23) and Sarah (21). During the day I work as a writer at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
