We have a winner! Thank you everyone!
Transparency alert: the Bluesfest School of Music and Art (it’s brand new in Westboro!) is giving each of my kids the chance to try one of their classes, gratis. My thoughts, as always, remain my own.
I can’t tell you how excited I am that the Bluesfest School of Music and Art is opening just around the corner from us. It’s been in the works for a long time (you can get a bit of background on it right here) and the day has FINALLY ARRIVED. Founded by Mark Monahan, the Bluesfest School of Music and Art (BSOMA) is “dedicated to supporting cultural development within the greater Ottawa community by creating opportunities through education that will allow students to discover, explore and deepen a relationship with the arts.” It’s running in partnership with Dovercourt, so you know it’s going to be top notch.
There is an open house from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. this Saturday (April 26), and I think it’s worth checking out. It will be your chance to (a) check out the new digs (b) meet the instructors and talk to some of the folks behind BSOMA. Apparently there will be mini-workshops too, which promises to be fun.
The first slate of classes looks fabulous. You may find a few pleasant surprises in there too, such as:
- Family Art
- Beginner ukulele
- Images and imagination (Eep! bookmaking!)
- Paint your selfie
Would you like the opportunity to take a workshop at BSOMA? Maybe you know a kid who’s always wanted to learn the art of being a DJ. Or maybe you’ve had a secret desire to take up the blues harmonica? Well here’s you chance to WIN one $99 gift certificate and try something awesome. (Note: the courses I’ve seen on the website are all $99 and run about 6 weeks.)
Interested? Please read the following carefully:
- In order for your entry to qualify leave a comment below telling me what course you’d take if you won. Check the current schedule right here. That’s it!
- This giveaway is void where prohibited by law.
- If you can’t post your comment for whatever reason you can email it to me for posting at andrea at quietfish dot com. Please note, I cannot be responsible if your entry is misdirected or gets stuck in my Spam folder.
This giveaway has a quickie turnaround. I will draw one name using Random.org at 9:00 p.m. EST on April 27, 2014. I’ll contact the winner via email at that time as the first batch of courses start on the 28th.
That’s it! Over to you. Good luck! And may the arts be with you, always.
