When journalists make mistakes

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Publishing/writing/career stuff

I have been sick with a cold for most of the week and I have been dragging my sorry butt around the house in the most pathetic way. At least one member of the family feels sorry for me. She has been at my side through THICK AND THIN*: * That is, when she’s not […]

Awhile back I was at a blogging conference, in the audience, listening to a panel of speakers. I can’t even remember what the topic was about, but someone I knew from the blogging world stood up during the question and answer time and shared her exasperation about (a) not being on the receiving end of […]

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Publishing/writing/career stuff

I posted this photo to Piper’s Instagram account this morning: I don’t really hate Mondays – that was Piper talking – but it did get me thinking about how confused my work week has become these past few years. I don’t really have a work week. I don’t get up, get in a car, show […]

Watch out! I’m feeling introspective today! I was in a meeting last week, sort of a consulting thing. There were five of us around the table. The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
