Someone got a hair cut

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Easy ways to make kids happy|Ottawa

Sometimes a good haircut can really change things around, don’t you think? My own hair appointment isn’t until August. I needed a new place to go so I took it to Facebook (crowdsourcing for the win!) where I received many suggestions but Mint Hair Studio won out. Woot! Other exciting things: The girls and I […]

I can’t tell you how many books show up on my doorstep and on my desk at work. Most don’t even come with a note or explanation. I only assume that the universe is trying to tell me I need to read more, either that, or the publishers would like me to review and write about their […]

A waterless car wash? Yes, it can be done!

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Oh! Things!

Awhile back I received an email from Canadian Tire about the goclean waterless car wash, asking me if I wanted to try out a sample. The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
