Make your own adorable pom pom Easter chicks

This is probably one of the easiest and most satisfying crafts we’ve done lately.
First, check out the results:
I am still amazed at how well these turned out.
1) First, the shells. Wash out a few egg shells and let them dry.
2) Make the nests. This part was the most fun. It will keep kids focused for a long time. The best thing is that technique doesn’t really matter. They will approach their respective nests messily or neatly, but they will all turn out great.
Cut some yarn in shortish lengths and mix some white glue with a bit of water. Dip each piece of yarn in glue mixture. Squeeze off the extra. Wrap the yarn, piece by piece, around the bottom of a small bowl that you’ve covered in plastic wrap. Let dry overnight.
3) Make the chicks. Glue two small yellow pom poms together. Cut a small piece of yellowish/orange felt for the beak and glue it to the top pom pom. Glue a couple of black seed beads for eyes. Small drops of black fabric paint work well too.
4) Make the yolks. I noticed the chicks sat a little low in their eggs, so I cut a small circle out of the same felt I had used for the beak and placed it in the bottom of the egg.
5) Assemble! Once your nest is dry you might want to add some Easter grass. The eggs will hold up a bit better this way.
And voila, you’re done!
