As much as we have enjoyed our summer, I have to admit that we are all getting pretty excited about going back to school here at Casa Fishbowl. The girls are looking forward to seeing their friends and I am looking forward to my old routines again. I am happy to say that one of […]

How do you show someone you love them, honour them, respect them? You can definitely buy a gift, a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, or send a card. Teachers get mugs, retirees get a cake, graduates get a laptop. These are great – and HELLO – who wouldn’t like cake! Certainly, gifts have […]

I posted about a lovely soup we had last week and promised a full review of Zestible, a new service which provides ready-to-cook meals for Ottawa folks. First, I have to confess that I would enjoy dinner time a little more if (a) there were fewer steps involved (read: no shopping or pouring over recipes from […]

terra20 is a Fishbowl patron but my opinions and love of sustainably-made and planet-friendly products are my own! I have some good news for fans of terra20 AND for the folks who may not have had the time to discover them yet. They just opened a brand new location at the Rideau Centre, right across […]

This post is sponsored by Loblaws but my opinions about cheese remain my own. Thanks Loblaws! For the past couple of years, I’ve been a bit crazy about setting out cheese boards when company is coming over. Our kitchen island becomes Ground Zero for snacks, along with little plates, napkins, glasses, and wine for the […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (17) and Sarah (15). I am the managing editor of our community newspaper, the Kitchissippi Times, and a regular contributor to MediaSmarts.ca. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger, and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999... which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.

The #dailylunches project – 1000 lunches and counting

Created with flickr badge.

Click the photo for details: what it is, where I ate it (if it's worth a mention!) and how to cook it (if there happens to be a recipe). You can also read more about this project right here.
