A blogger’s 2009 in review

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Memes/blog awards etc

I was at Karen’s blog recently when I was suddenly reminded me of the blogger’s year in review post. Here’s hers. (Have I mentioned that Karen is one of the nicest bloggers I’ve ever met in real life?) The bloggy year in review is something I love to read and do myself and had totally forgotten about until this […]

Hourly Photo project recap

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Memes/blog awards etc|Photography

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Hourly Photo project. I think this was an interesting project on so many levels. The day went by so quickly for me, especially with my alarm going off every hour. It surprised me almost every time, and I’d think “another hour went by ALREADY?” Egads. I’M HURTLING TOWARDS […]

This is the Hourly Photo Project. Scroll down to view the most recent photos. Check the Flickr group to see what others have set up, or go to the bottom of the original post and click on the links of the other participants. Share the post “The Hourly Photo Project: documenting Friday October 2, 2009” […]

Interested in taking one photo every hour to document your day on Friday October 2? Read the original post and sign up! You don’t need to be a professional photographer to participate. Everyone is welcome. p.s. a Flickr group has been created for this project as well. (Thanks Lex!) Share the post “Reminder: sign up for […]

I had a lot of fun doing my one-photo-every-hour-for-a-day project. My enjoyment must have been contagious because Lex picked up the idea and did it as well. There was some Twittering about it afterwards and a bunch of us agreed that we wanted to do it again on a date in the near future. And […]

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (18) and Sarah (16). I am the managing editor of our community newspaper, the Kitchissippi Times. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger, and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999... which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
