Au naturel AND THEN SOME

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Memes/blog awards etc

A couple bloggy friends around town have posted au naturel (that is, makeup free!) photos of themselves. I thought hey, why not? But how about upping the challenge? How about posting a photo of myself with a makeup-free and unwashed face, bedhead that has not been touched by a hairbrush, while pyjama-clad up against a stark white closet door? Without […]

I am typing this in the comfort of my bed, where I have just collapsed in a big heap after a long day of writing, rain, writing, and more rain. I spent much of the morning fighting traffic to get to a pirate ship … but more about that later. I have a SavvyMom piece […]

What’s your karaoke song?

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Memes/blog awards etc

I have never ever participated in karaoke singing. I’m not convinced anyone would want to be subjected to my warblings, but I have been to enough karaoke evenings to know that everyone has “their song” and it varies wildly from person to person. It is completely unpredictable. People have surprised me with Annie Lennox, Frank Sinatra, and everything else in […]

Toughest meme ever

Posted by: andrea tomkins In: Memes/blog awards etc

BeachMama, local blogger/mom/photographer/awesome lady posted the answers to a Q&A-style meme on her blog recently. At the end of her post I took her up on her offer to have her ask me some questions too. BeachMama came up with some great questions. Tough ones! Click to read on. The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
