I love to find order in chaos
Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy|Oh! Things!
Ordinarily, I’d find toys lying around the house like this:

… hastily piled up or tossed aside without rhyme or reason.
I am intrigued when I find them assembled like this:

Who is this gal, just sitting and watching, and not participating in the fun? And where did all those tiny chairs come from? :)
While she waits, this is what’s going on.

It’s clear I have discovered a petting farm. Or a pony ride.
This is one of the coolest things about being a parent. You give birth to these smallish meatloaf size things who do nothing but sleep and eat and cry and poop, and then suddenly they develop personalities of their own. And create worlds of their own design. When I find things like this I feel like I’ve stumbled upon a nest of fairies or something equally kooky. And I remember that these little people we brought into this world haven’t even been here all that long, and that they are ACTUAL PEOPLE developing right in front of our eyes.
I sometimes have moments of “hey, I MADE that kid” and now this kid is making up stories with Playmobile. How freaky is that?
