Overheard the other day as I walked home with my coffee

A mom, standing on driveway: “MATT! You’re going to be late for school, WALK FASTER!” It was around 9:00. Matt was aways down the street. At first he didn’t even turn his head. He looked about 15 or 16. And he looked really bored. He just kept walking.
“WALK FASTER! WHY DON’T YOU HAVE YOUR BIKE???”
Matt kept his pace.
His mother walked towards the end of the driveway, and was watched him as he walked. He briefly turned his head around towards her. I thought he was going to say something, but he didn’t. He just kept walking. He wasn’t exactly plodding along, but he wasn’t rushing either. It was after nine a.m.
I would describe his pace as deliberate.
“MATT, WALK… FASTER!”
After awhile she lost sight of him, and went inside.
Lady, if you think yelling at your teenage son like that is going to make him walk faster I think you’re sadly mistaken. I can just imagine what he was thinking.
