Our printer/scanner/photocopier machine has been giving us grief. Mark bought a new (expensive) cartridge and it still didn’t fix the problem. We both went around for a couple of hours fuming about it. I am supremely annoyed by the whole computer printer industry nowadays. Printers have come way down in price, which is great, however the quality isn’t so great and the ink is almost as expensive as the unit itself. Clearly, that’s where everyone is making their money.
So when something goes wrong, you’re just tempted to pitch the thing and buy a new one. That bugs me for so many reasons.
I went to the Carlingwood dollar store (I swear, the best one in Ottawa) with the girls to buy some crafty materials. We left Mark to his own devices. I came home to find the printer taken apart on the dining room table and Mark elbow-deep into it, performing some kind of surgery for which the instructions were obtained from the internet.
Uhhhh.
In the end he found out that our printing issue was a common problem for our kind of Epson printer. A little tube had become disconnected, so the ink wasn’t getting through to the paper properly. Unfortunately he used my best pair of tweezers to fix it. But at least it’s fixed. Oh wonderful talented hubby! If only you could now fix my CD-ROM drive!
