Dateline: Bits from yesterday

Posted by andrea in: Misc. life

Ok, who’s going to the Spins & Needles one-year anniversary this Saturday… that’s TOMORROW folks! Can we have a show of hands?

The quintessential work-at-home experience happened to me yesterday. The phone rang while I was in the basement ironing and starching the table linens. No call display, so I just pick up. It was a client, of course. We chatted about work while I pressed the seams, phone cradled in my neck and shoulder. Classic. I still can’t get over the irony. I WAS IRONING WHILE TALKING ABOUT WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENT ISSUES.

Oh the trials and tribulations of the work-at-home mum!

But at least I wasn’t cleaning alone. Have I mentioned that I have a friend who sometimes helps me with the housework? You won’t believe this, but it’s Astroboy!

Don’t you wish you had a superhero around sometimes?

So I managed to get a chunk of Actual Paid Work done yesterday, as well as some general house-cleaning. I’m happy to report that there are no more sticky spots on the kitchen floor. The feeling of my slippers sticking to the floor (and making that yucky sticking sound) ranks right up there in my top ten Gross Household Things. These otherwise include:

– disposing of wet scrambled eggs from the kitchen drain trap
– the feeling of hair tangled up around the bathroom scrubbing sponge
– slimy ham.

What’s your household grossness? (I’ve had my coffee already, I can take it.)
