cookies, birthday money and other things

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life|Photography|Recipes and Food

Mary (fondly known as Nana) made a batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies yesterday. The girls helped.

I was reading the newspaper at the kitchen table and every 12 minutes or so I couldn’t help but observe that yet another pan was being tucked into the oven.

I ate four as soon as they were cool enough to eat.

And here are the leftovers:

Nana's chocolate chip cookies

They’re here, on the counter, at our home.

How many do you think are in there? Perhaps two dozen, fresh, chewy, really chocolateychippy cookies?

The girls got to eat some in their little pup tent this morning. The rest are just sitting. Staring at me. Daring me to eat them.

Have I mentioned that my favourite jeans are fitting a little too snug? And that I had to do the dreaded “bend and hoist” to get them over my rear end? And have I mentioned that I am seriously considering spending my birthday money on a gym membership because although I weigh more or less the same that pesky extra layer of fat on my body continues to migrate southwards?

Have I mentioned that I’m wearing shorts today? I’ve spent the whole summer wearing flowy skirts and capri pants, only caving into shorts once… on our camping trip back in July. I am wearing shorts today because there is laundry to be done. They are army green and I’ve paired them with a sassy orangey coloured top, however, I think the blinding white jigglyness of my upper legs is frightening my neighbors. Not to mention the local population of squirrels.

Someone, please, give me the willpower to stop snacking.

And Mary, please, next time, make only half a batch of your deliciously irrestistable cookies, will ya? ;)

Just looking at those cookies made me gain 5lbs! I was doing great until my surgery, I am back where I started after only three weeks on my duff. Good news is I can start working on getting back in shape again. Bad news, we head to the beach on Friday for our vacation.
