Hey Andrea,
Would Bridgehead count as a public gallery? Maybe you can get some photos hung in there – with a small price tag beside them too! The Second Cup I go to regularly in Wloo to study/procrastinate features a different photographer every couple of months.

Oh, if you can wait until October we can talk so much about these things – typing would wear off my fingerprints!
Two things re: your goals
Both are so doable.
You have a better chance than most.
One question – since you asked it of yourself when revising another goal:
Why are these your goals?
But, as I just said – we can talk much.
Can I tell you Steve just helped a friend of a friend with her first children’s book, and I’m reviewing it for her?
Can I tell you that my dear friend Julia is a great person to talk to about hanging ten in the gallery world?
And you know there’s a whole blogring devoted to children’s book illustrators?
I feel a brainstorm ahead!

These are some kick ass, and totally achievable goals!
I know several book stores in this area (Almonte, Carleton Place, Perth) who love to showcase local authors. Children’s especially.

Changing Pace in Wellington Village also showcases artwork for sale. Might be worth enquiring there, too. CUBE (http://www.cubegallery.ca/) had an open call a month or so ago for their current show.

I take that back–it must have been a one-off show. It was an open call, however.

The CUBE is open to submissions. Guidelines are on their website. You might want to come to the next opening party this Friday. If you haven’t met Don already, that is! Plus, the parties are fun.

My dad does set building for lots of little theatre productions around ottawa and told me last night he’s working on a play that will be presented at the CUBE. He said it was a pretty cool place. The owner is letting the play use the space for free, in exchange for the free publicity I guess.
My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
