Costly school supplies, fees and fundraising are creating a two-tier school system … an excellent article by the Ottawa Citizen’s Elizabeth Payne.

At our school they also ask for multiple kleenex boxes to be shared by all. Toilet paper and paper towel is supplied by the board however.
Kids must also supply tennis balls for use as chair-leg socks. No other capital expenses are born by the kids so far.
Kindergarten is $25 and primary grades is $70 for supplies if you shop around for deals.
At our school kids are singled out by their teacher if they don’t pay up. Most kids are not sharp enough to understand they are being abused luckily. Teachers are an odd bunch.
