Thoughts of gifts and letters to Santa

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy|Oh! Things!

I am finally feeling better. The barfies are all gone. Thank you everyone, for your kind words.

After school yesterday we hunkered down at home instead of frolicing in the snow (SNOW, can you believe it?). We drank hot chocolate, sang, danced, and spun some tunes (see yesterday’s post) and wrote letters to Santa.

Why so early?

Because mummy wanted to get her shopping done. And it’s done. Mostly.

Before I continue, here are their letters. I swear, this has got to be one of my favourite Christmas traditions.

Emma’s:

Sarah’s (who got tired of writing it halfway through):

Once again I turned to Grand River Toys and they came through for me. They have a lot of interesting toys, and I am happy with the choices we made.

What are you getting your kids this year?

These are a few of the things we chose:

Melody Harp and case (for Sarah)
Colour A Funbrella (for Emma)
Plan City Asian Family (Mark said this was more for me than for Sarah, which is slightly true but I know she’ll love it)
The Secret World of Unicorns (for Emma)
Winter Mini Pop-Up (for Sarah – I’m a big fan of Robert Sabuda)
Model Horse Play Set & Activity Kit (for Emma, who loves anything horse-related)

I’m looking at our saved “wish list” and a few items are already backordered since I placed the order last night. There must be a lot of shoppin’ goin’ on.

Also on the horizon: an advent-related craft. I’ll share more about that tomorrow, but I better get moving if I want it done by Dec 1. Eek!

Grand River pulled through for me too! I am done, done, done…the kiddie shopping anyway. Feels great.

My kids are getting loads of arts and crafts supplies…this might be for me too! I think Grand River have very fair prices for Crayola anything…we got the sidewalk paint that I saw your girls enjoying (in pics this past summer)…looking forward to those. New scissors for Bug because she is really interested in cutting and pasting these days.

Books top our list always.

They are getting other items like Polly, My Little Pony, and Babie (horrific to some I know…but me…I loved Barbie growing up and my girls do too).

I’m looking forward to some Cranium games we got.

Bug really wanted a Dora laptop which isn’t something I would normally like to buy for her but it is the ONLY item she has asked for so Santa is granting this magical item.

Fortuntately G is too young to get the whole Christmas thing this year. We’ll probably go light on the toys and get him a nice sled for Christmas. I’d love to hear some recommendations!
