… but if I was I would totally buy this painting (via), this floor lamp for the corner of our dark dining room, this bird house, a pewter acorn, and a copy of In Defense Of Food by Michael Pollan.
And that’s it.

Yes to all five! I’m reading “The Omnivore’s Dilemma” right now and looking forward to “In Defense of Food”… the library doesn’t have it yet. Here’s a great extended interview at NPR with Michael Pollan to hold you over: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=17850369

I’m reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Babara Kingslover – an excellent read as well. It might be available at the library. Or alternatively I can arrange to drop it somewhere for you. (By the way, I’m VT from the CheapEats Ottawa books.)

I have read Defense (Toronto Public Library) and Kingslover’s book Animal, Vegetable etc and both are worthy.
Have you checked Craigslist in Ottawa? There’s a “free” link if I recall correctly…you never know. You could post a “wanted” for the book.
If I owned the book I would send it to you, but I don’t as I’m renovating and the LAST thing I need is more books in this house.

In Defense of Food is on my list. I’m hoping to get it for my birthday since I made some silly rule at New Year’s not to buy anymore books for myself until I get through my pile. I never said anything about new books as gifts.
I just finished reading The Omnivore’s Dilemma. Great read.

Okay, so I know that we’re doing the shopping embargo…but I really think that my new computer counts as a necessity.
At least Hubs thought so when I was driving him nuts by the TV….
