A friend of mine was once making her annual Christmas Pudding. She thought she’d be uber smart and make two: one for that season’s consumtion, the other to stay rum-soaked fresh in he back of the fridge for next year.

She pulled the second one out of the fridge a year later to prep it to eat. She couldn’t figure out why it had little silver flecks in it.

It turns out, she’d drank so much of the rum while making it, she forgot to remove the foil wrapper from the butter.
