Words and light

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

I am struggling to write a 50-word bio for an upcoming bloggy junket (more on that later!).

I figure if I could muster 50 people to contribute one word – or 25 people to contribute TWO words each – I can have this thing sewn up in no time. (!)

Can you help? Surely you can come up with two words! Leave ’em in the comments below. :)

While you’re taking care of that I’ll leave you with a couple of sample shots from last night’s lighting class. (Which has been AWESOME. I am learning so much.)

Baseball

Ball and glove

Love how you’re crowd sourcing :)

Excellent use of the medium!

Here are my contributions:

3 words: social media pioneer
2 more: authoritative and genuine

‘Artistic’ and ‘Resourceful’… love how you post about the local community and all it has to offer with regards to entertaining childern in such an intellectual way while following a practical budget! ‘Practical’ – a third word choice!

just by looking at those great pics of the glove and ball, I think of ‘passionate’, ‘rugged’ and ‘tranquility’.

This project will be difficult without prounouns, so I contribute “she” and “her”.

And since I spelled ‘pronouns’ incorrectly, I also contribute “gifted writer”

I’ll say, crafty and heartwarming.

Crafty in a crafts kind of way. Not in a Wile E. Coyote kind of way. :)

I’m having trouble squeezing in “humble” with the rest of the great adjectives you’ve all come up with. :)

I’m having the opposite problem now. I’m trying to turn 97 words into 50.

It is hard to talk about oneself in this way, isn’t it? I hate the idea of sounding like I’m bragging about myself. But here’s the thing: it’s a fine line between bragging and self-promotion. Where does one end and the other begin?

How about: Andrea is an engaging writer and photographer, who brings her community and experiences to life for the online community with whom she interacts. Perspectives on current issues, calls to action and antecdotes of life are presented in her writing.

You can spend the last word on anything but “very”.

Approachable, genuine, hot….I could go on. I had someone write me a blog bio and when I needed to expand and update it I kept on using the third person. I think you’ve already “crafted” it (g-dam,n gov. speak) but consider using the third person and see how it feels.
