Fishbowl fave frozen summer treats part three: Easy popsicles

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy|Recipes and Food

Dear Lord Or Whoever Is In Charge, please give us a few more hot days this summer so we can eat more of these:

Grape

I make these all the time. They are the easiest popsicles ever… they are essentially the only reason I don’t buy popsicles at the store. THAT IS HOW STUPIDLY EASY THESE ARE.

And it might be just my imagination (or maybe we eat them too quickly?) but I think these might even be LESS DRIPPY than other popsicles.

Have I mentioned how easy these are? And that there is no nutritional value in these whatsoever? Oh, and p.s., they aren’t vegan-friendly either. (Do you know what goes into gelatin??) But hey, sometimes summer is about letting loose, right?

Here’s the, um, recipe:

  1. 1) Mix up a package of Jello as per the directions on the package.
  2. 2) Pour into popsicle molds and let freeze.
  3. 3) That’s it.

Your children will think you have magic abilities and when they get older they’ll fondly look back on the Happy Days That Mom Boiled Water and Mixed It With Powder To Make Summer Treats That Made Our Tongues Purple.

(Don’t say I didn’t warn you.)

My Mom used to make those all the time! Jake isn’t really into them but I found a recipe for watermelon strawberry Popsicle I want to try. Except the melon was crazy expensive, so maybe next week.

If they turn out good, I’ll share.

PS… how about pudding pops?

here’s an even easier one for you. Peel and cut a ripe banana in half and put each half in a popsicle mold. stick in the stick part. repeat until tray is full. freeze.

the kids that congregate on my front lawn love these, and they don’t drip really at all. And it’s just fruit, so it’s ok to eat them right before supper!
