Moment of bliss #007

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Moments of bliss

MoB

This MoB is pretty close to MoB #004 but with some small differences.

The setting: An isolated canoe-in campsite overlooking a tranquil lake. I’m sitting on a large sloping rock and reading a newspaper while the sun gets lower and lower in the sky.

My immediate surroundings are evergreen and still. There is a loon on the lake and we’ve been watching it make its rounds.  Everything is illuminated with a warm light that only comes before the sun dips below the horizon. Everything is glowing. The sunset will be magnificent. The sky will be lit up as if there was something worth celebrating. Here’s the thing… there is something worth celebrating.

Why is that so easy to forget?

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human daughters: Emma (20) and Sarah (18). During the day I work as a writer at The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
