Giveaway alert: TWO Pure baby slings from Sakura Bloom

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Giveaways and product reviews

First of all, let me say that I am very happy to be posting this giveaway on Valentine’s Day. I love the idea of wearing your baby close to your heart.

Sakura Bloom is giving away two slings from the Pure collection to two lucky Canadian readers (one sling each). Yay!

The slings are linen – from the Pure collection – and are top sellers in Canada.

I love the look… so simple and elegant. I wish these had been around when our girls were small!

Since I’m choosy about what I give away here at the Fishbowl (and my own babies are way past the babywearing stage) I ran the Sakura Bloom brand by some babywearing friends. They confirmed that their slings are gorgeous and are great quality.

Some good to know info (this is from the Sakura Bloom website):

Naturally antibacterial, cool to wear, and perfect for all climates, linen is also easy to care for and becomes softer and stronger over time. Handcrafted from a single layer of linen, each sling is lightweight, breathable, and adjustable.

All Sakura Bloom slings are machine washable in cold water on a gentle cycle, fully reversible, designed to fit all body shapes and sizes, and easy to use with newborns and toddlers. Each comes with a detailed booklet with instructions, tips, and many photos. Whether a special treat for yourself or a gift for a friend or loved one, each of our slings is beautifully packaged and sent with care.

Pretty awesome, isn’t it?

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Check out the Sakura Bloom website. Come back here and leave a comment. Tell us what colour of Pure sling you’d pick if you win. (Personally, I love the black one. Or maybe the orchid? So hard to decide!) If you’re keen, I’d love to hear your thoughts about babywearing – why is it important to you?
  • Please make sure you leave a valid email address. If I can’t contact you by email OR if I don’t hear from the winner within 36 hours I will do another random draw and give the prize away to someone else.
  • One entry per household please.
  • Canadian entries only – thank you!
  • I’ll do a random draw (using random.org) at noon (EST) on the February 21 2010, so entries must be posted by that time.

Thank you Sakura Bloom, and good luck to you all!

p.s. I have another giveaway coming up tomorrow. If you (a) don’t have a baby on the way or (b) your kids don’t fit into a sling anymore, this will be a good one for you!

I’m loving the driftwood or the raven. Lovely.

As for babywearing, it kept my prem close when she couldn’t stay inside. Now that she’s bigger, it means we can go anywhere without fussing over a bulky stroller. Great for a big city.

oh I forgot to talk about babywearing! I look at it this way: the baby just spent a lot of time IN my feeling hugged and warm all the time. I think it should take some time to get used to the outside world before physically being separated from me (or dad) and slowly as it ages, it can venture out further from it’s central safe space (me)

I love the maple and the storm–both are beautiful!
I have 8 month old(5 month adjusted) twins–if I didn’t wear one(or both!) of them, I’d never get anything done! I’ve just gotten into tandem wearing and absolutely love the feeling of my son nestled into my chest and my daughter bobbing along behind me on my back. Plus, I feel so accomplished and awesome and just…like a superwoman when I wear them both!

For me, spice or driftwood, please.

I was able to borrow a linen Sakura Bloom for a week when Andrew was just a few weeks old and it was heavenly for those newborn snuggles. Even though Andrew is a year old now, I still wear him almost daily and I KNOW that SB’s are super supportive, even for older babes.

As for why BWing is important and why I love it, I could write a book! For those wanting more info, http://www.thebabywearer.com is a great site and their forum is incredible. Also it was started by a Canadian mama.

Babywearing International used to be call NINO, which stood for “Nine In, Nine Out”, as in babies are held for nine months IN the womb and should be held most of the time for the first nine months OUT of the womb. Mine are held for MUCH LONGER. ;)

We’re on child #3, but I loved babywearing so much when #1 was little that I started making my own! (www.slingtastic.ca) I love that I don’t have to wait for elevators or monkey around on busses, and that baby will just fall asleep if they get tired in arms!

Even though I make my own though, I have a collection of pretties I love! I would /love/ the Kiwi one :D

I’d love the bayou one to go with my blue-eyed babies. My babywearing days are just about over, and I’m sadly now selling my slings off, but I could also write for ages about how very useful my slings were – neither of mine were/are good sleepers, and sometimes the only way to possibly get a nap out of them was to strap them on and go for a walk. If I won this, I’d happily give it away – slings are now my standard baby shower gift!

I’m drawn to the Plum, but I think I would have to go with Raven so that the husband would be comfortable wearing it too.
I love the idea of babywearing, both because it feels so good to have her cuddled against my chest and because she seems so cozy and warm there. I would also love to have a way to carry her around that isn’t the car seat or stroller so we can take more walks or trips to the park without worrying that we’ll encounter roadblocks.

If I win, I’ll have another baby.
Wait, no I won’t.
I would give it to a sweet young Mom to be that I know though….not sure if that disqualifies me from the draw though.
And I agree, I wish I had had one of these when my girls were little!

Personally I love the “Driftwood” sling, but if I’m blessed enough to win, I’m going to gift my expecting-her-first-baby-girl-and-lover-of-all-things-purple cousin with an “Orchid” sling.

But, shhh . . . don’t tell her.

Thanks for the giveaway!

I would love the Black Raven or Driftwood. As for babywearing, it has made life a lot easier for me. My little one has hated the stroller since day one so my sling has been invaluable to me. Even now that she is a year old, I still like to go for a walk (although she is getting heavy) and I wear her around the house to get things done. I find that it calms her down and many times has been the only way to get her to sleep.

Thanks for introducing me to these beautiful slings. Oh my! They are gorgeous and look so comfortable. I didn’t do babywearing with my first. I just went everywhere with a stroller. Talk about inconvenient! I can’t tell you how many times I got dirty looks from other people because my stroller was in the way or how many places i couldn’t go because the stroller didn’t fit. Besides, getting to “hold” my baby all the time would be pure bliss.

I’d chose kiwi.

Thanks

The Storm one! Which I’ve wanted since the Sakura Bloom slings came out (I made my own instead, which was great). I wore my babies all the time since I hated using a stroller, and because I was always taking the bus! Much more convenient.

My kids are a little too old to be slung now, but this would make an excellent gift for a very deserving new mom that I know!

I think I would go for Plum.

I find babywearing more convenient than a stroller with the teeny tinys. With my second, it was much easier to use the stroller for my firstborn and carry the second than to try to make the 3 year old walk while the baby rode. I love that fewer people will poke at a baby who is being held too.

I also find that so many of the “conveniences” available to us now as parents seem to discourage holding and touching your baby. It is easy to just transfer the carseat to the stroller, and go for a walk. Back to the vehicle and back in the baby goes. If the baby fusses while out, just jiggle the carseat, instead of pick the baby up. It is really sad to me.

Wearing my babies has been the most wonderful experience. It calms them when their unhappy, let’s them sleep on the go and keeps them safe and sound when we travel. If I were to win, I’d choose driftwood or storm.

I have been eying Sakura Bloom for a loooong time. They were on sale a while ago and I tried to snap one up online but shipping to Canada was atrocious.

I love Storm and Spice, but really they are all beautiful. Right now I have a pouch sling that my 8 month old still uses. She falls asleep instantly when I put her in it. I love the closeness of wearing her, and also that it means I can have my hands free to chase after the 3 year old!

Good lord, how could I possibly choose? OK, it would have to be the spice. I can’t pass up an orange sling. Although the plum is lovely…

We are big babywearers here, especially when a stroller just isn’t practical or when I need my hands dree (like the other Vicky, I do have a 3 year old to chase after!). My kids were never sling sleepers, though – they have too much fun looking around, checking out the neighbourhood. I also love that you can just chuck a sling or carrier in a bag and whip it out when you need it.

Oh my goodness, these are so beautiful! We had a sling with babe #1 and it was not an adjustable sling (no ring), which I regretted once I found out more about babywearing options. I love that these are adjustable (versatile = fantastic). With babe #2 on the way and babe #1 turning 3 shortly before, this would be so welcome & appreciated. I dearly love the Kiwi but would probably go for Driftwood because that colour is more versatile & practical. :)

They are all gorgeous! I like driftwood the best though.

I wore both of my little ones in a wide array of slings and carriers. I love how free your hands are while you’re still holding your baby close. I found my sling especially useful with my second baby. I was still able to play with my 2 year old, bring her to the park, shop, etc. while still being able to nurse and love the new arrival on demand. I would have been lost that first year without my sling!

I have a BabyBjorn that was given to my from my sister from her first child… It’s been great to be able to ‘wear’ my daughter as right now my husband is away at college 5 days a week and so it’s been an amazingly helpful way to keep my hands free… I can make dinner and keep a relatively clean house… My daughter absolutely loves it too – she can’t get enough of watching what her mum is up to, and it allows me to stay close to her. I love the Sakura Sling as it keeps your baby that much closer to your heart. It’s so much more of a cuddle. The Organic Raven would be my choice! My husband would love wearing it too!

I love love love wearing my little one – I’ve missed it since my first has grown too big, but now with a new baby here, it’s become a huge part of our life again. I love that I can be with my 3 year old and still have the baby close by – I feel like I’m being a good parent to both my kids at the same time, instead of stuffing the baby in the swing or the stroller.

A little nervous about the challenges people have blogged about, but I hope to work through them. I really like the Sakura Bloom slings because they are beautiful and adjustable – especially for the dad! I think Drifwood is perfect for mom and dad. Thanks for the giveaway!

I love the orchid one… and the kiwi one. I’m always partial to green!

As for babywearing, I’ve done it a lot with both my girls and plan to rely on it again for the upcoming third and last child. I love how easy it is to do things like wash dishes or help another child while still snuggling with the littlest one. I love walking around town with a baby on my chest, my heartbeat and warmth rocking it to sleep. I love that if I need to, I can breastfeed on the go. I love that I can grocery shop and not have a screaming baby in a car seat hauled through the store. There really is nothing that I DON’T love about babywearing.

Baby wearing helps your child feel safe and secure…warm and cozy. Now that my children are too big for a sling, my daycare children would benefit from a sling in so many ways. :)
