Know More, Do More: it’s launch day!

Posted by andrea tomkins in: - Know More Do More

It’s launch day for the Know More, Do More campaign (I wrote about it earlier this week). You can read about it in today’s Citizen too.

Emma and I will be at Dovercourt today (Saturday) at 1:00 p.m. And you’re invited.

  • Bring your kids and come chat with health experts, enjoy some healthy snacks, get the kids participating in some fun activities, and pick up your own Healthy Active Living Tip Jar.
  • Can’t come? No prob. There are lots of other ways to get involved in this initiative. Sign up for prizes on the website, join the Facebook group or follow our Twitter feed.

We need your to help make this very important campaign a success, so please spread the word. This is our call to action. This is our opportunity to give our children give the best start we can, educate ourselves, our children, and establish healthy habits to help make our families stronger and healthier. So let’s get down to it, shall we?

This is a great initiative Andrea. We’ve just recently really begun to focus on incorporating more healthy eating habits at our house; we’ve always pushed the physical activity, but we noticed that we had been slipping into “easy” (read lazy) solutions with the kids snacking and eating.

We’re back on track now, rarely buying processed foods and I’m so excited about the new farm fresh box of weekly veggies we’ll be getting (thanks to the note on the WCA blog).

I’ll look forward to following your progress on this.

Awesome job yesterday Andrea. You looked like such a star! And truly and inspirational endevour. I love the tip jar and the Fitness Wheel. I’m going to keep these out in the kitchen and use them every day. I never would have known it takes an hour AND a half to walk off a store-bought (commercial) muffin……and all that fat, yick!

Liisa – it is really easy to slip into lazy habits, isn’t it? I think this challenge will go smoother for me now that it is a little warmer outside. I am much more motivated in better weather, and tend to have low energy in the winter.

Jennifer. Thank you for coming! I totally missed the fitness wheels. I guess I was too busy talking. Those things are great, a real eye-opener. Makes you think twice about extra snacking and portion control.

I think the campaign is fantastic and it is going to be a great way to make a difference. I wish I could have come out on Saturday. I will definitely pass this information along.

I’m sorry I missed the launch…but I just signed up! great ideas. we are already pretty active here (how can I not be with two boys?!?) so I’m looking forward to sharing some of our tips. We could always use even more exercise (some of us more than others, yourstruly) so I’m also looking forward to finding a few new ideas. what I’m really pleased about is how great this is for the kids. they learn by doing don’t they, so let’s just get out and do it!
