Welcome to our newest patron: Wall Space Gallery and Framing

Posted by andrea tomkins in: - Westboro|Fishbowl patrons|Oh! Things!

It is true what Picasso said about art. It washes away the dust of everyday life.

I’d like to take a moment to welcome a new patron to the Fishbowl: Wall Space Gallery and Framing.

Wall Space is a great little place to browse (it is a gallery!) and buy cool new art (much of which is local!) as well as a place to get your old stuff framed or re-framed.

They have two locations, one in Orleans and one in Westboro. Whenever I’m in the Westboro village location I drop by to have a quick peek to see what’s new. They have a beautiful selection of jewelery too (and I am very choosy about this kind of thing).

I am happy they’re here. It is exactly the kind of place Westboro needs.

We dropped by Wall Space during Westfest to see what was going on. Answer: lots.

While Mark and I poked around, the girls became deeply focused on some Pop Art-related colouring:

Here’s Trish Barr from Wall Space, hanging their art. (A lady saw me snap this photo and asked me if I was buying some art. It took a moment for me to clue in to what she was talking about. No, I said, we’re creating art! … Which I think is pretty darn cool):

I was very busy coveting these handbags. They’re made out of old books and recycled belts. (Gack – forget to get the name of the artist.) The Tintin ones are my fave:

book. case.

Anyway, I do encourage you to pop in to Wall Space next time you’re in the neighborhood. It is a very friendly no-pressure environment to browse and admire … and you will leave feeling inspired and a little fuller than when you came in. It’s funny how art does that.

Wall Space is the best gallery in town. There’s something about this place that makes you go back…often.
