Jetting & setting

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

I’m taking off on an early flight to NYC today. I’m off to BlogHer 2010! I’m very excited and nervous. It is very likely that I’ve overpacked, yet somehow I have a feeling I haven’t packed enough pairs of shoes. Gah! I just hope I have everything I need.

Mark and the girls will be holding down the fort while I’m gone. They are a little sad that I’m leaving.

Can I tell you a secret? It’ll be our wedding anniversary on August 7 … while I’m in NYC! Can you believe I’ll be away during our wedding anniversary? Can you believe I have the kind of husband who supports and encourages my passions? I’m so lucky.

Anyway, I’m not sure how much I’m going to post while I’m there, but I wanted to upload this little blurb for new visitors.

Hellooooo! My name is Andrea. I write for SavvyMom. I’m a veteran blogger (I’ve been blogging since 1999!) and this is my first time to BlogHer. I’m a professional writer and photographer and my work has appeared in a variety of national and local publications. There is a special place in her heart for words (strung together in a variety of ways or just on their own), great design, movies, food, coffee, naps, the outdoors, travelling, and going on adventures with my family. I am decidedly green and love to write about healthy and active living. And I get an EXTRA BIG thrill out of helping parents and kids discover all the hidden treasures Ottawa has to offer.

You may also find I have trouble keepin’ things brief (and I use parenthesis a lot ). :)

You can read more about me here if you are so inclined. You can also sign up for an Extra Helping or to receive my blog posts by email.

Over and out! (For now.)

Happy Anniversary! My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary today, too. So far we’ve always been together for our anniversary (6 years) but it woudln’t be a big deal if we’re apart, either. We did get married for the sake of an anniversary, but for all of the other days in between.

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Sunny who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. During the day I work as a freelance writer. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.

If you're so inclined, you can read more about me here.

I've deactivated the commenting function as well as my contact form so if you want to get in touch, please drop me a line at quietfish@gmail.com. Thank you!
