Just finished reading Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel and it was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It’d be an ideal read-aloud for kids seven and up, and a read-alone for tweens and up. :)

You should check out his Airborn series as well. I’m reading it to my 8 year-old at the moment and he is LOVING it.
