One of Piper’s favourite things

Posted by andrea tomkins in: dog stuff

This dog is crazy about poofy cheese snacks. Not that we ever feed them to her, no sirrreee. But there is a history here. Once upon a time a Cheezie fell on the floor and she swooped down to nab it even before you could stop and say “HEY I DROPPED A CHEEZIE.”

I don’t think she’s ever forgotten that heavenly moment. She always looks so hopeful when we open a bag.

Piper's favourite Halloween snack, part one.

p.s. Piper has been known to lick the inside of the bag once or twice.

Funny how they always know, either by the sound the bag makes, or the smell. Sometimes it’s the hint, the tiniest hint of a crumb, dust really, that puts them in a fenzy! :)

My mother’s dog could be upstairs asleep and she would come running at the sound of the cheese being pulled out of the fridge

Aww look at that cute face. My pup loves cheese in general and same thing – he comes running if we even just pull it out of the fridge.

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (15) and Sarah (13). I am the editor of the Kitchissippi Times, Capital Parent Newspaper, and a regular contributor to MediaSmarts.ca. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger, and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999... which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for families. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.

  • My latest post on the MediaSmarts website is up, and it's about family social media accounts. (Yes! It's a thing! And I think it's pretty neat.) Is this something you do as a family? I'd love it if you left your two cents on the topic.
