This is my view at the moment:
… but before I get into why I’ve been staring at a dog, a foot, and a crutch for the last day or so, I would like to add a bit to my previous post.
Last weekend was Westfest at Laroche Park and I was very busy for a couple of days with Friday emcee stuff and Booth Duty. All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and I really liked the new location. (Were you there? I’d love to hear what you thought of it.) This coming weekend is Westboro Fuse, which is Westboro’s new festival.
Sunday was kind of a crap day. We had a break in, in the middle of the day no less. In the interest of privacy and security, I don’t want to delve into too many details here, but I will say that (a) we weren’t home and (b) things were stolen. As you can imagine, this kind of thing really damages your sense of security. After all, home is supposed to be the place where we are safe.
We are all ok, including the dog, and that’s what matters. I am, however, still shaken up about it. We all are. There’s insurance to deal with now too, which is really just making the ordeal hang around us like some kind of big cloud when I would really just rather focus on something else for a change.
As for the elevated foot, well, it’s kind of stupid. I woke up at 4:30 yesterday morning and was unable to get back to sleep, so I grabbed my book and pillow and was going downstairs to read for a bit and I missed the last step. I landed on my heel, hard, before I collapsed to the floor.
I was unable to put any weight on my foot so Mark brought me to emergency after work. I got x-rayed and was told that I had a badly inflamed heel spur/plantar fasciitis and need to keep off of it for a few days. Hence the crutches. If I’m not better by the weekend I’m going to have to miss a slew of events I was planning to attend.
As for today, I am totally brain dead, minus that niggly part that is telling me I’m running behind on everything and will never catch up. My to-do list is getting longer as I lie here with Piper, my doggie nursemaid. (I think she’s the only one who is truly enjoying my convalescence.)
Personally, I would like something fun to happen to me next! Sigh.
