Down and up, in that order

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Misc. life

My email/internet/connection to the greater world has been down all day. I was on the phone to Mark about it several times.

He told me to unplug the router and plug it back in. I did that. THREE TIMES. And I started and restarted the computers. NOTHING WORKED.

Earlier this evening Mark asked me which cables I had unplugged. I pointed to a blinking box on the desk. The two over there.

No, he said. You should have unplugged this one and THAT one, he said, pointing to a wholly different blinking box.

*sigh*

Don’t get me started on all the blinking boxes and wires and cables around this place. I’m still not exactly sure if I can tell the difference between a router and a UB box or whatever that thingy is called you plug the external harddrive into. Or the digital camera. The external harddrive, well, one of them, is the little chip on a string… I think. AND, bec of the basement renos, he’s got two blinking boxes beside my bed, temorarily. Not only does the neverending blinking tick me off midway through the night when I’m nursing the infant, but I don’t know what the OTHER blinking box is and why it’s blinking. All I know is that it needs to be there and it needs to blink and it’s ONLY TEMPORARY…

I hear ya.

I’ve had a few days like that. Now, I just unplug the powerbar and start fresh. Glad you got back online, my internet is something I don’t like to be without.
