Here’s what you’ve been missing

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Publishing/writing/career stuff

A couple months ago I relaunched The Extra Helping (my wee e-newsletter!), by making it super specific to my snaptastic neighbourhood of Westboro. And people are noticing. There was a great little article about my new publishing adventure in a recent issue of our local paper, which gave the newsletter a helpful little boost and got the word out to a wider circle.

I started the Extra Helping because I really and truly love and support local businesses and wanted to shine a special spotlight on some of my favourite finds. And there have been many.

I’ve written about:

  • major foot-pampering in the form of slippers and cozy shoes
  • a local toy store and their stash of Movember goods
  • a tea blend that helps zap winter sniffles
  • a new source for childcare (that’s fun for the kids too!)
  • a massage that will make your body feel like butter
  • a source for sushi that comes with a side-dish of people watching
  • Jamaican Patties that will make you go gaga
  • … and more.

This week’s edition is about a really cool new shop you may not have known about, so if you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here!

This is original content that is not published here on the blog, on the Fishbowl Facebook page, and cannot be found anywhere else online. (As far as I know, no one else is publishing this kind of guide for Westboro!)

I have received some really nice emails about the Extra Helping recently too. Subscribers have taken me at my word and gone shopping on my recommendation … and I think that’s really neat. I’m glad that I’ve saved those people some time and energy. That’s why from now until Christmas the Extra Helping will contain a lot of great gift ideas and maybe even a special giveaway. SO. If you’re like me and like to support Westboro businesses and need some gift ideas you might want to subscribe today, that is, if you haven’t already. :)

Thank you to everyone who has been sharing the Extra Helping with friends and neighbours. It seems you are enjoying the content and recognizing the time and effort I put into each issue. Thank you for your support and encouragement. It really means a lot to me. xoxo!
